What are some of the
issues which
Arapahoe
County is facing?
Growth
Arapahoe
County
is experiencing a lot of growth, particularly in District 3,
the eastern half of the county.
Cherry
Creek School District
is planning the construction of several new schools in the
area, and Aurora
Public Schools is also making plans
for the area of growth east of E-470. New neighborhoods and
developments are being built in the eastern rural part of
the county as well. I would like this growth to follow an
organized plan to maximize the efficiency of delivery of
services and use of public facilities and roads.
Providing
services to our citizens
The
county government is responsible for a myriad of programs
and services, including welfare, Medicaid, recording of
deeds and other documents, maintaining roads, maintaining
facilities for our courts, overseeing elections, and more.
The motto adopted by the Board of County Commissioners for
the county is “first in
Colorado, first in service.” Some of
our citizens are receiving first-rate service, and some are
not. We need to make sure that all county services are
first-rate.
Problem-solving Leadership
Our economy is struggling to
meet the demands of a growing population with resources
which are likely to shrink due to lower assessed property
values in the next couple of years. We need people who can
look at a situation with new eyes while representing all
parties involved and find solutions which are effective,
cost-effective and flexible to respond to changing times.
To
summarize my positions on the issues, I would say that I
stand for good government, and for solutions to issues which
are effective, cost-effective and long term.
